The Estate House becomes Alexandra Nurseries

20120428_Estate_House-9

After a couple days of busy organising and preparations, the new Alexandra Nurseries has opened it’s doors to the public, as a garden centre and tea shop. True to form for weather lately, it has been raining for the whole opening weekend, however there does seem to be a good amount of interest in the … Read more

The Estate House – Preparations to open

20120426_Estate_House-5

The day is coming when the Estate House opens as the Alexandra Nurseries, and the yard completes it’s transformation into a garden centre. There is plenty of work going on, getting stock ordered, priced and in place, I expect that there could be some long nights ahead to get it all done.

Westgate-on-sea, a foggy scene

Westgate-on-sea, Kent, near Margate - In the mist, at dusk

Continuing my series of images made at Westgate-on-sea, Kent, near Margate, these were taken recently on a very foggy evening.  The lights, spilling over the white cliffs provided a wonderful experience. Turner loved the Margate light, and I bet he saw it in all its flavours and hues.  I have experienced quite a range of … Read more

The Estate House – Winter

John and Sarah have been living in two rooms of the house, and their caravan for winter, which I bet has been a little cold at times.  Luckily the fireplace works and some semblance of life exists on the site, however work does go on and the progress is fast indeed. The Isle of Skye

Staffin Island, the Isle of Skye

A friend recommended camping at Glen Brittle campsite, and it was quite some location.  Imagine if … Read more

The Quiraing, Isle of Skye

On a recent trip to the Isle of Skye, which is a great and beautiful island by the way, we came across a tea room with true class and hospitality. If you are ever on the A855 from Portree to Uig around the north-east end of the island, be sure to slow into the town … Read more

Let it snow

Streatham Common in the snow

Snow in London is always a wondrous thing.  I do love it so much, and despite it grinding the city to a halt, there are some amazing changes to the landscape.  Do people actually get happier when it snows, like when it is sunny and hot?
